When the kits are born they are born without fur and their eyes closed. Only people who constantly handle the dam should touch the kits. I always rub my hands with the bedding and stroke the dam before handling kits under 2 weeks. |

In the first week they start to grow fur,you can see their markings really well by the time they are 1 week old. | |

Between 10-14 days they start to open their eyes. Around 2 weeks some will start to venture out of the nest. They have tripled in size since birth. | |

3 weeks old and they are proper little characters!! They are now nibling solid foods as well as mums milk. | |

| Between the ages of 6 - 8 weeks is when you can wean the kits,the longer they are with the mother the better as this maximizes their nutrition and growth,I wouldn't leave the kits with their mother any longer than 10 weeks.Weaning from milk to solids is a delicate time for the kits tummys as they are susceptible to inflammation of their intestines(enteritis) which is a big killer. I don't feed my kits any vegetables until they are 3 months old. | ||
